The Dodge Dart Returns. And Brings Wireless Charging.

The Dodge Dart is making a comeback in the 2013 model year. I could never buy one because the name just sounds silly, but before they were discontinued in 1976 they were one of the most successful compact cars in history. And, the executives at Chrysler actually wanted the name “Zipp” so at least it Dodged that bullet. (Get it? Dodged that bullet? Hilarious.)

Anyway, the venerable Dart is making a comeback this year and that’s important for two reasons:

  1. We’re one step closer to having the 1985 Yugo GV make a comeback.
  2. This new iteration has a standard wireless charging mat for your phone and MP3 player.

If you haven’t used them before, a wireless mat allows you to simply set a compatible device on the mat and it will magically charge it without connecting any wires. It’s a pretty slick feature, and hopefully we’re coming closer to an industry standard which will get rid of extra wires in our cars, houses, and boats.
