What is a bromance? According to Urban Dictionary there are 68 different interpretations of the word, but the one we liked the best was “A non-sexual relationship between two men that are unusually close.” Bromance is also in the Merriam-Webster dictionary as well, and they define it as ”: a close nonsexual friendship between men.”
Now that we have the definition of the word, let’s take a look at some examples from TV to really lay out what a true Bromance is. We proudly present to you our list of television’s best Bromances. Enjoy.
Marshall, Ted and Barney: How I Met Your Mother
Marshall and Ted were best friends from the first day of freshman year can finish each other sentences and know who looks better in red cowboy boots. Despite the fact that Barney and Ted have been in love with the same girl, Barney flew to San Francisco to get Marshall’s true love back, and when it comes down to it, they love each other like brothers.
Carlton Banks & Will Smith: Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
Will was born and raised in West Philadelphia and Carlton was born with a silver spoon in his Bel-Air mouth; but they stick up for each other against high school bullies, bad 90’s style, and picking up chicks. And, at the end of the day, there’s nothing better than a flat-top haircut with your best bro.
Bill and Eric: True Blood
They’re both sometimes-evil genius vampire sexpots and for awhile were in love with the same fairy girl, but they always protect each other, killed the evil queen, and even buried a king in a cement tomb. They even survived nearly being burned at the stake, and still managed to look like GQ models while doing it. After all, nobody likes to get vampire mush on their Armani pants.
Danny Tanner, Uncle Jesse and Uncle Joey: Full House
Even though Jesse and Danny were technically in-laws, what could possibly be more brotacular than moving in together to help raise your friend’s kids? For years, Jesse and Joey were content to live in their bro’s basement and attic, even after Jesse got married and had his own kids because they loved each that much. Hidey Ho, Ranger Joe, it doesn’t get any more bromantic than that.
Vince, Turtle, E and Drama: Entourage
All of the guys relocated from New York to Los Angeles to support their bro as he makes it in the big, bad world of Hollywood movies. They live together, party together and pick up girls together. And, in true bro fashion, Vince takes E, Drama, and Turtle with him on his way to movie stardom.
Pete & Pete: The Adventures of Pete & Pete
Big Pete was always the voice of reason and after trombone practice, he was always there to help Little Pete out of scrapes with the law, parents, the plate in mom’s head. It’s never explained why a small child has a tattoo like Little Pete’s, but they’re always there to battle Pit Stain for elementary school dominance.. and wear coordinating flannel.
Turk & JD: Scrubs
They are the perfect bromance: they have matching bracelets, best friend walkie-talkies and were apparently roommates for ten years. For some reason they continued living together despite making salaries of a surgeon and doctor, respectively. But none of those compare to the truly bromantic love ballad “Guy Love.”
