A Memorable Stay at Impression by Secrets Moxché
Located in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, Impression by Secrets Moxché is a luxury resort that offers a blend of adventure, relaxation, and exceptional service. During my stay, we had the opportunity to explore all that this resort has to offer, and came away thoroughly impressed.
Exploring the Pools
One of the things I was most excited about was the number of pools on the property. With 11 pools, each had its own personality—some offered sweeping ocean views from the rooftop, while others had a sandy, beach-like vibe. The infinity pool was my personal favorite. It felt like I was swimming right into the horizon. The swim-up bars were ideal for those moments when I wanted to socialize, and the bartenders made some great cocktails. It didn't matter what mood I was in; there was always a pool that suited it perfectly.
We spent hours lounging by the different pools, moving from one to another, depending on the mood. Some days, the quiet atmosphere of a secluded pool with a book in hand was the move. Other times, we craved the energy of the larger pools with music and people enjoying themselves. It's rare to find a resort with such variety, making every day feel fresh and different.
Entertainment and Activities
The entertainment options were so much fun, and I loved how varied they were. During the day, we watched movies on the giant outdoor screen and even caught a few sporting events. But the real magic happened at night. The fire dancers were mesmerizing, and the mariachi bands brought so much energy to the evenings. One of my favorite experiences was finding the Gypsy Club—a hidden speakeasy behind an old-school pharmacy. It felt like I was part of a secret adventure, and stepping inside was like being transported to another era. I loved the sense of discovery that came with it.
The resort also had activities like cooking classes, tequila tastings, and craft sessions. We joined a cooking show one afternoon, where the chef showed how to make traditional Mexican tacos. It was educational, and a lot of fun. Plus, it gave me a deeper appreciation for the flavors I enjoyed at the resort’s restaurants.
Culinary Delights
Food is a big part of any trip for me, and Impression by Secrets Moxché did not disappoint. With 14 restaurants to choose from, I felt like I was on a culinary journey every day. One of the standout meals was at Ember Steakhouse. Watching the chefs flame-grill my 32-ounce porterhouse steak was a treat, and it tasted even better than it looked. Another highlight was the Taco Experience—a seven-course meal that took us through the history of Mexican flavors. Chef Paulina was excellent, sharing stories about the ingredients and how each dish was created. The crispy pork belly taco paired with a Pixán spirit was unforgettable. I even tried a roasted corn ice cream taco for dessert—something I never thought I'd love, but it was one of the best desserts I've had.
Every meal was an adventure, and I loved the diversity of options. One evening, we dined at the rooftop seafood restaurant, enjoying fresh ceviche while watching the sunset over the ocean. Another night, we stopped by the casual pizza spot on a recommendation from Gilberto, and it ended up being one of the best pizzas I've had. The mix of upscale dining and casual eateries meant we could indulge in whatever we were craving.
Off-Site Adventures
Even though the resort was hard to leave, I knew I had to explore some local areas. We joined an ATV and cenote tour with Cancun Adventures, and it was such a blast. Speeding through the jungle on an ATV was exhilarating, and cooling off in the cenote afterward was the perfect way to end the adventure. The cenote was stunning, with its clear waters and natural beauty—it felt like I had stepped into a hidden paradise.
Another must-do was visiting Chichén Itzá. History has always fascinated me, and seeing El Castillo in person was incredible. Standing there, surrounded by the remnants of such an advanced civilization, really put things into perspective. I'd recommend reading up on the Maya civilization before visiting—it added so much depth to the experience.
One of the unexpected highlights of the off-site excursions was a trip to Puerto Morelos for dinner. We visited a local restaurant that served authentic Riviera Maya cuisine, and the flavors were unforgettable. The seafood was incredibly fresh, and the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. It was an excellent contrast to the more polished dining experiences at the resort.
Balancing Fitness and Relaxation
I love a good balance of activity and relaxation on vacation, and the resort made that easy. The gym was well-equipped, which meant I could keep up with my workout routine even after all the food. There were free weights, strength machines, and cardio equipment—everything I needed. If you like to take it easy, the spa may be your go-to. You can treat yourself to a massage and spend some time in the hydrotherapy circuit to unwind. It's all about finding that perfect balance, and I think I managed it pretty well.
Outstanding Service
The service at Impression by Secrets Moxché was exceptional, and it's one of the things that stood out most during my stay. Gilberto and Neftali, the butlers, were fantastic—they helped with everything from reservations to recommendations. We even got one of the best pizza recommendations from Gilberto, which became one of my favorite meals. Chef Paulina's passion for Mexican cuisine was contagious, and she made the Taco Experience so much more than just a meal. It's those personal touches that made my stay truly memorable.
The staff at the pool areas were also excellent. They always made sure I had everything I needed, whether it was a fresh towel, a drink, or just a friendly chat. It was clear that the team took pride in making every guest's stay as enjoyable as possible, and it showed in every interaction.
