An Exact Replica Of The Hobbit's Pub

An Exact Replica Of The Hobbit's Pub

By Pat Dininny Nerd Stuff

Hobbit fans rejoice! Not only is the big screen release finally upon us, but now you also have your own authentic bar. Now, I’m not a die-hard fan of The Hobbit but I have enjoyed the Lord of the Rings series of movies and will probably love The Hobbit as well, but what I like more are pubs - and this one is awesome.

The Green Dragon Pub in New Zealand was created to be an exact replica of the watering hole that Frodo and his gang used in the Lord of the Rings series. And now that The Hobbit is in theaters, the pub manager expects over 100,000 visitors over the next year. The Green Dragon even opened up to the public with a “chain cutting” ceremony with New Zealand Prime Minister John Key.

The pub is located in Hobbiton - a tourist village open since 2002. And there are even hopes that one day some of the homes can be opened for overnight stays. Now I know where I am going to recommend for our next Stray Monkey corporate meeting.

Check out some pictures of the pub below.
