Living in Western PA, one of the many hazards on our roads aside from deer and potholes are drivers from Ohio. It’s a daily occurrence for me to curse out a car with Ohio license plates who cuts me off or stops in the middle of an intersection on my commute to work. And I only have a three mile drive to Stray Monkey Headquarters. Knowing that, I don’t know how anyone survives a cross-state drive in Ohio, and because of that I cant say that I am surprised by this story.
So here is the question: who thinks it is a good idea to drive on a sidewalk because you don’t want to wait behind a stopped school bus? The next question: what part of this remotely sounds like a good idea?
Luckily, no children were exiting the bus as 32-year-old Shena Hardin jumped the curb in her Jeep Compass and did just such a thing. Unfortunately for her, there was a police officer who saw the act, and it was also caught on film. After facing her day in court, a Cleveland judge has ordered Hardin to wear a sign that says “Only an idiot drives on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus” from 7:45 to 8:45 at a Cleveland intersection for two days next week. She also has to pay a 250 fine and had her licence suspended for 30 days. Score one for the justice system and a funny judge.
