As you probably know, we're big fans of beards here at Bro Council. Last year, we filmed our first ever documentary at the 2011 National Beard and Mustache Championships in Lancaster, PA. This year the third annual Beard Team USA National Beard and Moustache Championships will take place on Sunday, November 11, 2012, in Downtown Las Vegas, Nevada.

For the first time in history, the Nationals will utilize an eighteen-category system based on the system commonly employed at the World Beard and Moustache Championships. The categories range from the delicate Dali moustache to the anything-goes full beard freestyle and are described in greater detail here. Information on rules and scoring is here. The championships are open to anyone, regardless of nationality, experience, or club affiliation. Members of local chapters of Beard Team USA will be able to compete for their chapters.
Registration for competitors is $40. Admission for spectators is $10.
The competition will take place at the Clark County Government Center Amphitheater, with lawn seating for 3000 beardsmen and their fans. It is located ¾ mile from the world-famous Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino, which will serve as host hotel for the event. For further information on lodging and to book your room, click here.

Friday, November 9:
7 p.m., first ever Beard Team USA Poker Tournament, Golden Nugget Poker Room.
Saturday, November 10:
Excursion to Hoover Dam, with smooth-water rafting on the Colorado River. Details and cost
TBA.(There is also an air show at Nellis Air Force Base that some people may prefer.)
8 p.m., visit to the fountains at Bellagio on the Las Vegas Strip.
10 p.m., Whiskerinas’ fake beard contest, location to be announced.
Sunday, November 11:
Morning, final placement of contestants in their correct categories.
Beard styling seminar by Toot Joslin.
Afternoon, National Beard and Moustache Championships, Clark County Government Center Amphitheater.
Monday, November 12:
Brunch and Beard Team USA annual meeting. Time TBA.
