Review: Turo Skin Products For Men - High End Grooming

Review: Turo Skin Products For Men

A couple of weeks ago, Ray approached me to see if I would be interested in reviewing some products for him. I immediately thought “yeah sure, why not,” then I quickly remembered the adult baby wipes that I was forced to review. From that point on I was a bit worried as to what was about to show up at my door.

When I learned I was getting a package from Turo Skin, I was intrigued because I had never heard of them. Not surprisingly, it was because they are a high end male skin care company, and I’m the guy whose wardrobe consists of a selection of hockey jerseys and superhero shirts. I also tend to use the $2 can of shaving cream each morning, so a "high-end personal care product" to me is a $3 tube of Burt's Bees lip balm. Naturally, I welcomed the chance to see how the other half lives.

Turo Skin 3 in 1 Shower Cleanser

Turo Skin 3 in 1 Shower Cleanser. As Turo Skin says directly on their website “The 3 in 1 is designed to be quick, easy and effective – perfect for active men who don’t have too much time for too many products." This is a great quality shampoo that conditions, a cleanser, and they even throw in some moisturizer. I like that it's light and doesn't leave any gunk/residue. I really liked this, and my first morning using it was after an intense workout.  I must say, coming from a guy who would usually use dove or the Walmart equivalent I can now see why "the other half" uses high-end products.

Pros: Has (and leaves you with) a pleasant aroma, moisturizes better than normal everyday brands.

Cons: It takes slightly more than the everyday brand to get enough lather to get the job done, it's also $24 for a 3 oz. container which may or may not be in your price range.

Daily Moisturizing Lotion + Sunscreen

Turo Daily Moisturizing Lotion + Sunscreen. As someone who has had to deal with dry skin his entire life (and even more-so in these sub-zero polar vortex days in Western PA) this was a welcome sight. Each morning, I used this after my shower and after a week of full use my conclusion is that, again, it's a great product if it's in your price range.

Pros: Dries quickly and doesn’t leave a filmy feel to your skin afterwards, great aroma to compliment the shower cleanser, the sunblock is great for the summer months.

Cons: Doesn’t provide all-day coverage like some competing brands, cost is $30 for 3.4 oz.

Turo Skin Multi Active Shave

Turo Skin Multi Active Shave. This was definitely my favorite product. As a guy with a thick beard, a good shave is hard to find. Disposable razors don’t last long and electric razors don’t get nearly as close as they should. Plus, after the shaving cream comes the after shave, and if you use one of the alcohol based versions it isn’t a great feeling.

The Turo Skin Multi-Active Shave goes on a a cream goes on a a cream and transforms (like an Autobot) into a foam. According to the Turo Skin site the cream is infused with anti-inflammatory agents that soothe irritated skin, and it protects, exfoliates and moisturizes the skin for a closer, more comfortable shave. I agree with all of that. This is, by far, one of the best shaving products I have ever used. Plus, it comes with a direction tag recommending you use a dime sized amount and massage into the skin for 30 seconds. The container may be pricey, but it will last a long time.

Pros: Even with a questionable disposable razor this was closest shave I have ever gotten, using this product also make the need for a soothing after shave obsolete.

Cons: $30 for a container.

You probably noticed that each of my cons included the cost. Again, I have never been a "high-end" kind of guy when it comes to everyday shower items. On top of the economic troubles most of us have each day, the basic blue-collar guy in me can’t see spending this kind of money for everyday use.

But! If I were a businessman who had a need to uphold my appearance everyday, or someone who was in to keeping up with new fashion trends then I would be an every day customer. I loved Turo Skin’s product. I will use their products, I'm just going to save them for special occasions, dates, and the occasional night out with friends. This is a great product if they're in your budget, and if not; look at it as an investment. Even a homebody like myself needs to clean up and look nice on occasion.
