Recently, we traveled to the Bahamas - a tropical paradise located in the Atlantic Ocean. Comprised of more than 700 islands, cays, and islets, the country is known for its stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant culture. From snorkeling and diving in its crystal-clear waters to exploring the rich culture and history of its capital city, Nassau, the Bahamas has something for everyone to enjoy. Our Hotel – The Riu Palace Paradise Island

The Riu Palace Paradise Island in the Bahamas is a popular destination for travelers looking for a beautiful and relaxing vacation. We chose to stay at the Riu Palace during our trip to the Bahamas for several reasons. First, the location of the Riu Palace is unbeatable. Situated on the beautiful white sandy beaches of Nassau, the hotel offers stunning ocean views and easy access to the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean. Whether you want to relax on the beach, go snorkeling, or explore the vibrant local culture, the Riu Palace is the perfect base for your adventure.

Second, the Riu also offers a wide range of dining options to suit every taste, and everything is included with your reservation. The resort features several on-site restaurants and bars, serving everything from international cuisine to local specialties, as well as a lively poolside bar and grill where you can enjoy drinks and snacks throughout the day. My favorite spot was the Caribbean jerk chicken stand, where I spent most of my lunches.

In addition, the Riu offers a wide range of activities and amenities for guests to enjoy. The resort features a large, free-form swimming pool with a swim-up bar, a fitness center, and a spa where guests can indulge in various relaxing treatments. Plus, there are a variety of excursions and activities, including boat tours, snorkeling and scuba diving trips, and visits to the nearby Atlantis resort. The Atlantis is only a 10-minute walk away, allowing you to check out its aquariums, water parks, and more.

The building, originally a private residence, has hosted several famous guests, including royalty, presidents, and celebrities. Today, the hotel maintains its historic charm and elegance, offering guests a glimpse into the past while providing all the modern amenities and services that one would expect from a luxury hotel - and we came for the dining and wine tour.

The Graycliff Restaurant, the hotel's dining destination, offers an elegant and refined atmosphere, perfect for a leisurely lunch. The menu features a range of international dishes, including salads, desserts, and hearty entrees. We also loved the wine tour, which was a fascinating look into the hotel's impressive Wine Cellar, home to more than 200,000 bottles of fine wine from around the world. It is the most extensive privately-owned wine cellar in the Caribbean and features a range of wines from the most prestigious wine-producing regions of the world. From rare vintages to more affordable wines, the cellar has something to suit every taste and budget. We were guided through the cellar by a knowledgeable and experienced wine expert named Gino, who shared fascinating stories and insights about the wines on display and helped us to choose the perfect wine to enjoy during lunch.
