Singer Mat Kearney Writes A Song About Chip Kelly

Mat Kearney Says: Chip Kelly - Don't Go

Mat Kearney is a great singer, and he's also a fan of the Oregon Ducks football team apparently. After the Fiesta Bowl, Kearney decided to write a song to Ducks Head Coach Chip Kelly to ask him to stay in Oregon instead of accepting the head coaching jobs for either the Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles, or Cleveland Browns.

All three teams are pursuing Kelly, but Kearney cuts to the core of the issue by asking Chip not to go because "they don't have half the heart - or the jerseys."

It's a great impromptu tribute to Chip Kelly, and you can check out some of Mat Kearney's music here if you want to listen to his normal style.

LYRICS:

This is a song I wrote for the head coach of the Oregon Ducks, Chip Kelly.

Chip don't go,
Don't you go,
Don't you leave the Ducks on the U of O,
Don't you leave before we see our crystal dreams.

Chip don't go,
Don't you go,
To Philly, Cleveland, or Buffalo,
They don't have,
Half the heart or the jerseys.

When I was just 8 years old,
We prayed for three win seasons,
Four in a row BCS Bowls,
Now you've got me believing,
It will be so good next year,
And it won't be funny,
Mariota and the black mamba,
And Phil Knights money.

Chip don't go,
Don't you go,
Don't you leave the Ducks on the U of O,
Before we see our crystal dreams.

Chip don't go,
Don't you go,
To Philly, Cleveland, or Buffalo,
They don't have,
Half the heart or the jerseys.

And I know Eugene is a small town,
What's Cleveland anyway,
Those crowds ain't half as loud,
And Buffalo's freezing.

Chip don't go,
Don't you go,
Don't you leave the Ducks on the U of O,
Before we see our crystal dreams.

Chip don't go,
Don't you go,
To Philly, Cleveland, or Buffalo,
They don't have,
Half the heart or the jerseys.

I been an Oregon Ducks fan now,
Since I was a small boy,
We got a good run going,
As good as I can ever remember,
This is just a little song Chip,
To ask you please don't go,
But if you do need to go,
No hard feelings,
But I have this to say.

Nick Aliotti don't you go,
Don't you go,
I know we've had our highs and lows,
But we need your D on our team.

Mark Helfrich don't you go,
Don't you go,
And take me down that Golden Road,
I believe we're gonna see our Crystal Dreams.

Chip don't go,
Don't you go,
Don't you leave the Ducks on the U of O,
Before we see our crystal dreams.

Chip don't go,
Don't you go,
To Philly, Cleveland, or Buffalo,
They don't have,
Half the heart or the jerseys.
